The Hurricane
By Ben W. Blue
~ 2008-05-01
- The hurricane was coming here
- Headed my way, unavoidable
- About to overturn millions
- For years, forever, land and lives
-
- My friend felt guilty, sad and scared
- For he was enjoying loved ones visiting
- How could he feel so good, he said,
- When others would be hurt or lost?
-
- Don't feel guilty for living and loving
- For enjoying what's so good
- I want you to be happy with them
- Don't stop while I'm gone a little while
-
- Yes, others go through bad times
- While some go through good times
- It's just living, my friend
- We all do it, loving life is no sin
-
- Don't be scared for me or others
- If I cannot return, it is alright
- I have had as good a life as I could
- I will still love you just as much
-
- I will see you again as soon as I can
- In a little while, you'll wake
- We'll be together again, only better
- Our times will be precious and complete
-
- On that day, my friend, have no fear
- For I will cry with joy for you
- For my friend will return, no longer lost
- And we will embrace for sure
-
- Now I tell you this, the lesson is clear
- Life changes hugely in an instant
- And we wonder how to take it, how to go on
- The answer's oh so simple
-
- Embrace again the lost returned
- Cry and laugh and love, rebuild and build anew
- Clean and heal what is broken in each other
- Embrace family and friends, bring in old and new
-
- Don't wait too long, dear friend
- One day your wait will be over
- We'll let the good times roll again
- Life will all start over
-
- Though rain and wind take all away
- Though love and friends seem so unreachable
- Someday, my friend, with the sun's warmth
- We begin again
-
- The flooding rain downpoured
- The wind howled and roared
- The storm passed away
- I was still here
-
- Hello, my friend
- I thought of you
- You missed me
- We got through it
