Lifebuoy
By Blue / Ben W.
~ 2006-06-30
- There was a young man found
- Awash with troubles deeper than oceans
- With waves crashing all around
- His cheeks soaked with tears
- So deep, he’s nearly drowned
- He tried to swim, until, exhausted
- He flailed for solid ground
- Others reached out, a lifebuoy, life, boy
- Dearest friends abound
- To pull him from roiling surges
- Embracing love, safe and profound
- Hold him fast, hugged as he sobbed
- And cried out for the abyss unsound
- He struggled to push them away
- To save them from him, aground
- I am too lost and rotten, he claimed
- We cannot – unspoiled, beloved friend
- We will not let you drown
- We, who love this storm-tossed sailor
- Upon life’s careless seas, seized unbound
- So hug him close, sit and listen
- While naked fears resound
- We banish chills, warm body and soul
- Rescue the inner spark, let it astound
- Once more we’ll sit with this young man
- So strong and brave, renowned
- When foul tides have washed away
- Let us sit together, hugging, laughter, again found
- Woebegone, now woes, be gone, forever
- For love will even death confound
- Be not afraid, young man sailing, on shifting seas and sands
- We stand ready, watch on watch, faith true as your hound
- Your heart and soul we guard, we love you, shipmate
- Set fear aside, set sail, uncharted waters, boldly sound
- Now find a new sun-star, set course, raise anchor
- Sails take wind, rudder repaired, our friend, undrowned
- We crew together, always and forever, this life and beyond
- This ship’s The Unicorn, we dance for you, our best mate around
