I met a young man a-goin’

I met a young man a-goin’,
He was wheelin’ around the way.
He said, “I don’t know why I go here.”
He said, “I don’t know why I stay.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was thinkin’ along the way.
He said, “I don’t know any answers.”
He said, “I ask things anyway.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was lonely along the way.
He said, “Many won’t talk or listen.”
He said, “Many won’t comprehend.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was lovin’ along the way.
He said, “Even so, I love whom I love.”
He said, “Even so, I know they love me.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was livin’ along the way.
He said, “I don’t have too long to see it all.”
He said, “I don’t want to miss anything.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was wisdom along the way.
He said, “I have no wise, fancy words to leave you.”
He said, “I just love my best every day.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was caring along the way.
I said, “Your friendship has changed me.”
I said, “I wish more were a-goin’ along the way.”
I met a young man a-goin’,
He was sorrowful and knew not the last.
I said, “I met a young man a-goin’.”
I said, “Let me tell you about his new path.”
